DJ Khaled and Soulja Boy have weighed in with their thoughts on Jay-Z‘s “Death of Autotune” record and co-signed the rap mogul’s overall message.
While Khaled felt the song was not targeted to anyone, Soulja Boy suggested T-Pain may be subliminally addressed on the track.
“It’s an amazing record,” Khaled said in an interview. “Jay-Z is one of the best in the game. Shout to Jay-Z for shouting me out. I salute that…Music is music. He ain’t dissing nobody, he’s just saying it’s overdone. He shouted brothers like T-Pain that’s supposed to do it.”
“That’s a crazy track,” Soulja Boy explained in an interview. “I know it’s gon’ stir up a lot of controversy but Jay-Z is one of the best so a lot of people gon be turned into it. “The album just got pushed up,” Pain said in an interview earlier this week. “It was gonna come out September next year. [The record label], they’re making me come out November this year. It makes the label look straight. I was gonna chill, because it was so many people that do what I do — now Jay-Z done dropped the ‘Death of Autotune’ and it’s time for me to come back…Oh yeah [I’m still using it]. Definitely now. Jay-Z said something…I gotta do it now. It’s nothing outta the ordinary, so I’m ready.” (MTV)
Fabolous spoke with SOHH last week about his thoughts on “D.O.A.”
Jay-Z is like the so to say trend killer if he states that something is done,” said Fab. “Certain people may feel that way but never say it… but Jay, he’ll take the stand and everybody be feelin’ that way and be like, ‘Yeah Jay’s a hero for saying what we’ve been feeling.’ I think what Jay is trying to do is help people get back to the talent of rapping. Let’s get some artistry back in the music, some good writing. I think ‘Death of Autotune’ is dope. I think it’s good for the climate too. At some point a lot of these kids, artists are coming out and they’re just putting this autotune on their voice… I guess Jay is just tired of everybody jumping on that bandwagon. I kinda was over it too.” (SOHH)
Little snitch 4.1 crack. Fellow Def Jam rapper Young Jeezyrecently issued a warning to autotune-based artists.
